The Horsehead Nebula is also known as Barnard 33 is a small dark nebula in the constellation Orion. It appears within the southern region of the dense dust cloid known as Lynds1630, along the edge of the much larger, active star forming H II region called IC 434. It is one of the most identifiable nebulae because of it's resemblance to a Horsehead.
Facts about the Horsehead Nebula:-
1. The Horsehead Nebula is approximately 1375 light years away from Earth.
2. It is located in the constellation Orion.
3. A deep red colour originates in the nebula because of the ionization of the hydrogen gas which is behind the nebula and caused by the nearby bright star sigma orionis.
4. It's radius is 3.5 light years.
5. It was first recoin 1888 by Scottish astronomer Williamina Flaming
